TRADITIONAL ARTS CLASS SERIES

The series of Chinese traditional arts classes taught by traditional Chinese artists and experts are uniquely designed for non-native-Chinese students. The art classes provide the youth a first-hand experience in Chinese culture, and will be one of most exciting and unique opportunities of your lifetime, and contribute as a key to the door of Chinese traditional arts for further pursuance.

Erhu 二胡

Erhu, also known as "Chinese violin" or "Chinese two-string fiddle," is a traditional chinese musical instrument.
We teach from the basics: Sitting gesture and Erhu-holding, shape and positions of hand and fingers, string-pressing, Empty-string, Sound-making, until music tune performance.
◊ At the end of the program, students should be able to perform a simple but complete music on Erhu.

Chinese Painting 国画
Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world.
The class starts with the basic techniques, such as ways of using brush, ink and colors, and instruct paintings of vegetables and fruits, flowers etc. The techniques for mountains and rivers paintings can also be taught for advanced students.
◊ At the end of the program, students should be able to complete a masterpiece of Chinese painting.

Tie-Dye 扎染
Tie-Dye is a traditional Chinese dyeing method on fabrics and is still popular nowadays because of its natural and primitive style.
The class teach the complete procedure of tie-dyeing◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ Students can design and make a unique style neck scarf or handkerchief or T-shirt by themselves.

Chinese Paper-Cutting 剪纸
The Art of Paper-Cutting was originated from China and spread to the rest of the world in the 14th century. Today, paper-cuttings are chiefly decorative, especially during Chinese festivals.
We teach by steps: contour plotting, scissors cutting and knife carving 
◊ Students will understand the magic of the traditional Chinese art, and create beautiful works themselves including all steps of the art.

Martial Arts 武术
Chinese martial arts is also called Kung Fu or Wu Shu.
We teach Martial arts as a modern sports and gymnastics
◊ Students learn Chinese Kung fu and enjoy the time.


Chinese Calligraphy 书法
The art of calligraphy was originated from China, then got spread to Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Singapore, and became a unique feature of Oriental art.
It is very much like painting, but uses Chinese characters to communicate the spiritual world of the artist.
◊ We provide students the practice of Calligraphy as fun experience and appreciation of the art.
